Baby’s first bath. It can be a little unnerving, especially if you are a new mother and never given a newborn a bath. Don’t worry though, you’ll do just fine. Mothers have been giving babies a bath since the beginning of time. Today is much safer with all the new types of tubs designed just for infants and toddlers. And many babies love getting a bath!
Your newborn should just get sponge baths for the first couple of weeks at home or until the umbilical cord heals. Since your baby doesn’t need a bath every day, you can give sponge baths twice a week or as often as you feel is necessary. It is important to go ahead and gather everything you will need before you start. And here is the equipment you will need to bath a newborn:
* 1. thick towels or a sponge-type bath cushion
* 2. soft washcloths
* 3. bath seat for basin or sink
* 4. cotton balls
* 5. baby shampoo and baby soap (non-irritating)
* 6. hooded baby towel
* 7. clean diaper and clothing
Make sure the room you are using is warm (around 75 degrees F). Place a non-skid cushion or towel at the bottom of the seat/tub so your baby will not slide around (little ones are very slippery). Run warm water (between 90 to 100 degrees or warm to the inside of your wrist) into the sink/tub. Gently undress your baby while talking in a soothing voice, explaining what you are doing. Place the baby in the water slowly.
Start with the face with just a little bit of baby soap. Next, wash the head, and continue moving downwards. When bathing your baby, make sure to clean the following areas (and creases) thoroughly: neck, ears, buttocks and groin area. Try not to get the umbilical cord area wet; gently clean with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol. And if your son is circumcised, try not to move the foreskin back when cleaning the groin area. Once you have the front clean, then finish with the back side.
Dry your baby thoroughly and then dress them. Make sure the head is completely dry. The first time may take a little bit of time because they will squirm and they are very slippery. But never take your hands off your baby. Once you both get used to this routine, it will be extremely easy. Have fun!

Discount vitamins are suddenly easy to find all over the web. New sites pop up all the time. Web masters figure they can store and ship vitamins as easily as they were already shipping DVDs, office supplies, or auto parts, and they smell high profits. No one would want to buy auto parts from a place that specializes in golf balls, but how many consumers know what to look for in an online vitamin store? They want the convenience and price breaks offered by shopping online, but not the doubt and confusion. Not when it’s something they’re putting into their bodies and counting on to keep them healthy and long-lived.Many vitamin web sites are flashy and jam-packed, even more confusing than the crowded shelves and high prices at the local drug store. At least the people in the drug store know something about vitamins – how many of these online stores do? A lot of them sucker the buyer in with lost-leader pricing, with bargains on a few well-known items to disguise the high prices on most of their products. Others make outrageous claims for their ?house? brands, because they make more money selling those. Some are web-only outfits without even a warehouse – just a web page – and they depend on jobbers and third parties to service their customers. A few simply offer inferior products to obtain their discount prices.Vitamins are a perfect business for unscrupulous operators, because customers often have to purchase a product at least once before they know if it will help them. So the reputations of seller and manufacturer are crucial. How can the bargain-conscious consumer separate the pretenders from the knowledgeable pros? Here are a few important points to consider:Consumer ReportsThe dietary supplement business has been under attack lately from those who want to regulate vitamins, minerals, and herbs. It would be a disaster to treat vitamins like prescription drugs, but open availability has a trade-off. Virtually everyone can manufacture or sell supplements, and the FDA isn’t testing them. Do the contents of that multivitamin really match the ingredients on the label? You can’t tell from looking at it.Fortunately, consumer watchdog agencies and publications do a very good job of testing brand-name vitamins for potency, ingredients, and freshness. There are several reputable outfits, such as Consumer Reports, where the vitamin shopper can turn for lab tests and price comparisons. A customer has an easier chance of finding quality discount vitamins if he already knows which brands he prefers.Multivitamins or Multiple Vitamins?A person could make a life’s work from comparing multivitamins and their glowing claims, but there’s a simple way to get what you need. After careful research, the consumer should sit down and make a list of exactly what supplements and dosages he wants to take everyday. Then he can look for the multivitamin that fulfills most of those needs. Those nutrition needs not filled by a multivitamin can be supplemented with specific vitamins and herbs. In other words, most people need both multiple and multivitamins, and the trick is finding the right ones. Some brands, such as Source Naturals, offer literature on the function and benefits of each of their products right in the box, which makes it easy to stay educated. Some exotic products, such as antler velvet, are actually natural multivitamins packing a lot of potency. Thankfully, the options for consumers are more plentiful than ever, and someone is making just the right product for every need.A Real Vitamin StoreOnce the consumer knows what he wants, and that he wants a bargain, it’s time to go shopping. As stated earlier, when shopping online, it’s easy to buy vitamins from the auto parts store. How can you avoid that trap? The surest way to find an expert web source for discount vitamins is to find one that’s a real brick-and-mortar vitamin store too. The customer doesn’t have to worry about their expertise or whether they’ll have the products in stock, plus he can usually get his questions answered honestly and correctly. Reputable stores have a large selection, lots of specials, and fair return policies, something the newcomers don’t always offer.Full Selection of BrandsThe sure way to spot a fly-by-night online store is to find one that only offers a couple brands, with an emphasis on their cheap ?house? brand. The buyer doesn’t want to settle for the house brand unless they’re just as good as the name offerings. Only the reputation of the online site can guarantee that, not a low price. The consumer who did his homework already knows the best brands – the feat is to find them at the best price. An online site that has a wide selection of brands and products is more likely to offer bargains and specials, as manufacturers compete for the consumer’s dollar. If a customer wanted to be limited by the variety of brands, he could go back to shopping for vitamins at the local drug or grocery store.Other Internet ResourcesPopular shopping sites, such as CNET, are good places for simple price comparisons, and they may lead to online stores that the customer wouldn’t find otherwise. Searching by name for a specific supplement can give the consumer a good idea about its relative benefits and effects. If the customer is also taking prescription drugs, it’s always a good idea to check on possible interactions between prescription medicines and dietary supplements. That information is available online at the more comprehensive sites, or ask your doctor to be sure. Many prescription drugs have holistic alternatives, and you can research that online, too.A vitamin regiment is designed to make a person healthier, so it shouldn’t be full of stress. Shopping online is supposed to avoid that stressful drive to the store, where the selection is limited and the prices are high. Online shopping definitely makes price comparisons much easier. So take your time and study all the options, then look for a web site that delivers experience and selection in discount vitamins.

Home improvement projects are expensive, and most homeowners choose to finance the project. Having a high credit rating makes obtaining a home improvement loan easy. While bad credit will not enable a homeowner from securing financing, the chances of getting a good rate are low. Here are a few options available to help homeowners get approved for a bad credit home improvement loan.
Secured Home Improvement Loan
If your credit rating is low, lenders will not approve a loan application for an unsecured loan. Hence, homeowners must resort to applying for a secured personal loan, which requires collateral.
When home improvements are necessary, many homeowners take advantage of their home’s equity. There are two types of home equity loan options, and both are secured by your home’s equity. If applying for a home equity loan, homeowners may acquire a lump sum of money that can be used for any purpose. Common uses include home improvement projects, debt consolidation, etc.
Another option involves the home equity line of credit. With this loan option, homeowners open a line of credit with a mortgage lender. As needed, the homeowner may withdraw funds from the account using a debit card or checkbook. This option is ideal for homeowners who are undertaking many home improvement projects over an extended length of time.
Other Loan Options for Home Improvement Projects
Because home equity loan options are secured by a home’s equity, homeowners must maintain regular payments. Defaulting on a home equity loan has serious consequences. To avoid the risk of losing their home and equity, some homeowners explore other options.
If needing to finance a quick, low-cost home improvement project, homeowners with poor credit may consider applying for a short term cash advance loan. Some cash advance lenders offer loans up to $3000. This is ideal for small home improvement projects.
Cash advance loan companies require repayment of funds within 14 to 30 days. Before applying for a short term loan, borrowers should evaluate their personal finances. Loans require no credit check or collateral. However, if a borrower fails to repay the loan or make payment arrangements, the loan company can seek a judgment against the borrower.

Extended Warranty For Used Car BuyingSubmitted By: Mark Robinson
There are many ways to save when you are buying a car, but some of us don’t even think about some things that could save us a lot of money in the end. In this article we are going to talk about buying a car from a dealership and some things to look out for to help you save.
First of all savings is always an issue when you are out car buying. You want to make sure you have the best deal. The first thing you will do is research the car or cars you are interested in. Then you are going to shop around at the car dealerships. You may even look at a few private sales just to see if there is something worthwhile in that arena. When you are car buying from a dealership the best thing you can do is drive around on the lots on a Sunday. Most car dealerships are not open on a Sunday and while their gates may be locked you can still walk around. You won’t have to deal with any sales people while you look at the cars they have on the lot. This will enable you to note the cars you are interested and arm yourself with the proper information so that when you go back to test drive the vehicle and make sure it is in great mechanical shape you can do so without wasting time.
The best way to save on car buying is to be armed with the financial facts about the car. Basically know what a used vehicle goes for according to Kelly Blue Book and the other consumer reports. Also know the price of a new model vehicle. If you know what a dealership will try to get and the cars actual worth you will have some bargaining power.
Also go armed to have a down payment or trade in to count towards the actual purchase of the vehicle. This will help keep the costs down for you. The most important thing to consider before you even step foot into the office is the extended warranty. There is a lot of conjecture as to whether paying for the warranty is worthwhile. Most of the newer cars have a lot of cost regarding even minor issues such as the seat warmer not working or the replacement of some simple air hoses. While the parts don’t often cost a lot the labor is very intensive when speaking of cost. The extended warranty covers some costs such as mechanical failure in the engine and replacing such things as breaks. However hoses, general maintenance such as oil changes and the required checkups are not covered in the warranty. In fact the extended warranty really only deals with the most major of issues. Therefore you have to weigh the cost for effectiveness. You may find the calculation of paying the extra fifteen or twenty dollars a month for five years is more than actually paying for something if the vehicle did have a mechanical issue.

My experience of working with small businesses is that sales growth relies on relationship building. This is a skill that you need to employ continuously, with all your business contacts.ProspectsYou are surrounded by prospective customers who do not know you nor do they know what benefits you offer. When you approach cold contacts, the statistics suggest that you get a 1% to 3% response rate whether you use direct mail, telephoning or door knocking.Warmer contacts develop after you have met a new prospect several times or when a client gives you a direct referral. As you meet the warm contact to build your relationship, listen for what they need, explore their interests, and ask about their purchasing habits. When you know what they want and you have educated them in what they want to choose, these prospects develop into hot contacts, who are ready to trust you and to buy from you.CustomersIf you have a delivery cycle, you can continue to build your relationships through keeping your customers informed how the delivery process is progressing. No one likes surprises, so if the delivery slips or you find that there are quality issues, help your customers to plan around the delivery issues and they will appreciate the care you invest in communicating with them. After you complete the sale, continue to track your customers’ needs by maintaining sufficient contact that you can respond ?just in time?. People value this extra service especially if your competitors think that customers place volume orders in response to cut prices. When you make a sale well, a customer can often refer you to three new customers so you can draw a good profit from creating long term relationships with customers.ClientsGenerally it costs 30% less to sell a second and third time to a current customer than it does to convert a prospects into a new customer.
Where customers buy from you several times, you can gain useful market intelligence if you ask them what they value about your services and products. Feedback from these repeat customers will point to the benefits that give you a competitive edge.Where your long term relationship enables you to fit into your client’s purchasing habits, you can relieve stress in their business and ease their life: this makes them keen to work with you again and again. Although deep client relationships take time to build, they create a barrier that can exclude competitors from entering your market.SupportersSome regular customers will support you by recommending you to their colleagues. These recommendations can take prospects directly to the stage of being customers with very little of your effort. So keep these supporters informed about your plans and developments, and introduce them to people who matter in your world. Where you can encourage them to feel involved in the success of your company, they will repay your relationship in growing profits.Nothing beats doing a good job and if you continue to deliver an excellent service over a long period, your customers will continue support your business growth. The Ford Motor Co. Australia has intimated its willingness to support the forthcoming research project by the University of Melbourne to study efficient and practical hydrogen fuelled vehicle technologies.
According to Peter Batchelor, the Minister for Energy and Resources, ?The important study today received a $1.2 million grant from the Victorian State Government, announced by the Minister for Energy and Resources.?
To further aid the research project, Ford Australia has promised to contribute engines and resources. The support will coincide with the State Government’s grant to attain engine and vehicle development. The project is also aimed at analyzing hydrogen generation and storage technology. “Ford Australia is proud to extend our relationship with the University of Melbourne through this important project,” said Tom Gorman, the Ford Australia president.
Ford Australia and the Victorian State Government joined the university so as to form the Advanced Centre for Automotive Research Technology (ACART). The purpose of the centre is to boost auto development in Australia. ACART will soon build a new engine dynamometer facility, a diesel test cell, and a top-notch environmental wind tunnel that would be available for use by the automotive development community.
“Globally, Ford Motor Company is a leader in the development of alternative fuel vehicles and technologies. The Escape Hybrid, our range of E85-capable flexi-fuel vehicles, and the recent showcasing of the world’s first drivable fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle with plug-in capability are all examples of our broader global efforts,” added Gorman. “The University of Melbourne project is the first to research hydrogen engine alternatives using an Australian sourced engine, and will be an important complement to these initiatives,” he continued.
The first stage of the university’s study is the development and testing of a hydrogen-fuelled turbo-charged Ford 6-cylinder engine that has been designed using the advanced combustion technology (HAJI – Hydrogen Assisted Jet Ignition). The goal behind the study is to demonstrate the characteristics and benefits of hydrogen assisted internal combustion. The intensive study will build on many years of hydrogen combustion research at the renowned university.
“This project will use cutting-edge research into low or zero emissions technology,” said Dr. Michael Brear, a senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne. “It will also tackle the important energy issues of hydrogen generation from renewable energy and its high density storage requirements.”
The research is set to start in July this year. It will be bolstered by the automaker’s vision to address global climate change and reduce foreign oil reliance by using alternative fuels and technologies.
Alternative fuels, also called non-conventional fuels, include any substance or material that can be used as a fuel other than fossils and the conventional petroleum, propane, coal, and natural gas. The term usually means a renewable energy source.
Alternative fuels also cover hydrogen fuel cells and internal combustion engines, hybrid engines, liquefied petroleum gas, biofuels, advanced transmissions, and clean diesel engines. Now, the automaker will be focusing on building refined clean engines and discovering environment-friendly fuels to help clean the air. It will not be concentrating on auto parts like power antennas but on the totality its product lines.
Joe Thompson is the owner of a successful auto body shop in Ferndale, California. This 48 year old is also a prolific writer, contributing automotive related articles to various publications. For more information, please visit power antennas.
Fantasy football is growing in leaps and bounds! If, you are at all interested in owning your very own fantasy football team, the most important decision you will make will be in which type of league you should join. There are several different types of fantasy football leagues to consider and it is important that you make the right decision. Below we have some tips to help you understand the different types of teams.
Most popular are standard draft leagues. This type of league is started with teams where the players are selected in a serpentine style draft. Lineups can be selected by the owner weekly. Usually, this is based on the number of players per position permitted by league rules. There are two different types of standard draft leagues – total points and head to head. The difference is that with a head to head league each team is matched against a new team each week. The team that receives the most points is recorded as winning team. The teams with the best record participate in the playoffs at the end of the season. With total point leagues, wins and loses are not recorded and tracked. Rather, points are accumulated on continual basis. Standings are determined according to the total points of the teams. At season end, the teams with the highest number of points play in the playoffs.
Auction draft leagues can be made up of either a total point system or a head to head system. Unlike that of the standard draft league the auction draft league uses owners who have an amount of money that is predetermined that they can use to bid on players to complete their rosters.
Dynasty league players are on the same roster from one season to the next unless they are released or they are traded. Keeper leagues combine some of the features between dynasty and standard draft leagues. Drafts are held before the beginning of a season so that many of the players can be drafted although owners can keep a select set of players from the season prior.
IDP leagues use defensive players in individualized manners rather than in defensive units. This league can be a bit harder to organize for the owners because it means more thought has gone into filling out the positions. Survivor leagues use about any kind of draft you wish. Most commonly, auction or standard styles are used.

Owning a horse can be a very rewarding hobby. Whether you are a person who just likes to go for a peaceful trail ride or you are aiming for Olympic gold, there comes a time when we all will travel somewhere with our horse.
Whether this experience is just to go to a different trail riding area, heading to your first competition or moving paddocks, the following handy tips can help make the experience less stressful for all concerned.
First you will need suitable transport for your horse. If you are intending on moving your horse on a regular bases then it maybe necessary to purchase (if the budget allows) your own horse trailer (float).
Most towns will have somewhere to hire a trailer from, otherwise you maybe lucky enough to have some great friends who can help you out.
No matter the transport you decide on, it is your responsibility to check that it is roadworthy and suitable for your horse.
Is it big/small enough for your horse to fit comfortably?
Is it in good repair?
Are all the correct lights working?
Does the trailer have the correct brake set up?
Is the floor strong and not rotten?
Is the trailer registered?
Are the tyre’s in good order?
Do you have a suitable vehicle to tow the trailer?
Are you used to towing a trailer?
If possible it is always a good idea (especially if you haven’t transported your horse for a while), to have a practice loading session the day before.
Make a list of all the things you may need to take with you, such as extra feed, saddle, bridle, competition clothes, riding boots, grooming box, tack box, bucket, towel, extra blankets, human food, money and maybe even a map. Also make sure the vehicle has plenty of gas!
If you are traveling to a competition it is best to pack as much as possible the day before. Don’t forget any registration/membership papers or nomination forms.
Check out where you’re going to. You may even do a ?dry run? (if it isn’t to far away) to check out the best route to take. Work out how long it will take to get there and allow a bit extra so that you’re not running late.
Have prepared any protective equipment for your horse that you deem necessary for the trip. Are you using floating boots? Try them on your horse so that they get a feel for them and you see how they fit.
When the time comes to move your horse, stay relaxed as this will help your horse to stay relaxed. If possible have someone who is experienced with moving horses with you.
Once you arrive at your destination, park in a place that is suitable and safe to unload your horse. Unload your horse and take them for a walk around to have a look at their new surrounds. Perhaps offer them a drink.
If you follow these simple steps, then transporting your horse will be a simple and enjoyable process. Remember to plan ahead and relax!
Happy Horsing

I have had the pleasure of fishing for salmon in Alaska. It was a thrilling experience!
To see 3 feet long Silver’s in a stream surrounded by 10,000+ foot mountains is something you dream about.
If you have fished for salmon anywhere and they are spawning you know they aren’t all that easy to catch as they aren’t feeding only intent on
running up stream to their spawning spot. So it takes some patience and good timing as well as knowing where and when they are running.
But for any fisherman, this is one of the ultimate experiences!
Here are a few tips:
Your First Pole:
The most important piece of equipment is a fishing pole of course! The best place to purchase a pole is at a real pro shop or bait and tackle shop.
Pro shops usually have a generous return policy. If you get a pole that is not comfortable for you, too stiff or too flexible, too long or too short, they will generally exchange it for a pole that will work better for you.
Bottom line, they want your return business for other things like bait and tackle.
The Place:
The best place to fish for salmon is in the river when they come up to spawn. The local pro shop should be happy to provide you with the best times for fishing salmon.
Salmon spawn at different times and come up the rivers at different intervals throughout the season. So, planning is important if you want to
actually fish when the salmon are spawning. You can get alot of good information with a subscription to Alaska magazine or do a search online for the location you are interested in.
The Boat:
Best case scenario is to have a flat bottom river boat, but those are expensive. It may not be a good idea to take a regular “V” hull lake boat into the river because the depths can be too shallow and unpredictable.
Another wonderful way to experience your first salmon trip is by hiring a guide. You’ll learn more from the guide then on your own. It can be pricey, but it’s worth it. Alaska guides generally charge $200/day per person.
No boat? No worries. Fishing from shore is a wonderful way to experience this fantastic hobby as well. Get some waders and watch out for the slippery rocks!
The Bait:
Ask the Pro’s at the pro shop what works best in your area or the area you are going to fish. They will most likely suggest salmon eggs. They are cured in many different ways and everyone has their favorite.
You may wonder why you would want to use salmon eggs. It’s very simply really. After salmon spawn, the parent fish stay around the nest to protect the eggs from predators like trout.
The currents will also carry the eggs away. When this happens the parent fish gently pick the eggs in their mouth and bring them back to the nest.
So, when you dangle salmon eggs in the water after the salmon have spawned, they will see the eggs and assume that some have floated out of the nest. When they go to retrieve them, they get hooked!
The Catch:
Take along an ice chest filled with ice to keep your catch fresh. You may want to have a couple of five gallon buckets as well. One bucket for cleaning your catch. Another bucket to keep the ready-to-eat gutted and cleaned salmon in.
If you clean it before you take it home, you avoid the smelly bloody mess in your kitchen. Many rivers in Alaska, Kenai, Russian, Montana, Bird…have fish cleaning facilities.
A third bucket could be used to save salmon eggs gutted from a female. You can save the egg sack and cure it later. You can learn more about how to cure the eggs, or roe, online or talk to someone in your local pro shop for suggestions.
The Filleting:
You can cut your fish in two ways, steaks or fillets. Salmon steaks are the easiest way to cut them up. Filleting takes a little more practice. You will
probably mangle the first few you try to fillet. Don’t let that bother you. All those little mangled pieces can be smoked and turned into a salmon dip.
Mmm good!
The Cooking:
There are many ways to cook salmon. Pan fry, BBQ, roasted or even smoked. If you do decide to smoke your salmon pieces, be sure not to over dry
them.
Here’s a simple recipe for salmon dip.
One cup smoked salmon
Two 8 oz packages of cream cheese
Half cup chopped onion
Salt, pepper, garlic, to taste
Now it’s time to stop reading about it and go out there and catch some salmon!
